Lohausen lies in Stadtbezirk 9, north of Golzheim and directly adjacent to Düsseldorf Airport. The neighbourhood enjoys a particularly advantageous position: Messe Düsseldorf, Rhine riverbank paths and the international airport are reachable on foot or by bicycle. Residential life is quieter than the airport proximity might suggest – an achievement of noise-protection planning and the routing of flight operations to the east.
History and Development
Lohausen developed during the 20th century with the growing airport as the neighbourhood's anchor. The history of today's Düsseldorf Airport begins in 1927 with the construction of a first small airfield. As the airport expanded into an international hub, the surrounding residential area grew with it.
