Location and Character

Vennhausen lies in Stadtbezirk 4, east of Eller and north of Gerresheim. The neighbourhood is smaller and quieter than Eller, sharing its eastward orientation with good access to forested areas. It is a down-to-earth residential district without a pronounced scene identity – solid, family-friendly and comparatively affordable.

History and Development

Vennhausen developed during the 20th century as a residential area at the eastern city edge. Allotment gardens, detached-house estates and quieter apartment buildings characterised it from early on. Its position between the built urban area and the eastern recreational landscape shaped its development as living space for families and city-weary residents.

Living and Quality of Life

Vennhausen offers lower rents than more central districts. Detached houses with gardens are more common than in other neighbourhoods. Families with children feel at home; school infrastructure is in place. Basic everyday supply is available; for more specialised errands residents head to Eller or the inner city.

Getting Around

U-Bahn stop Vennhauser Allee (lines U75, U76) connects Vennhausen to the inner city. The Hauptbahnhof is roughly 25 minutes away. Bus routes supplement. A car eases daily life but is not essential.

Green Spaces and Leisure

The transition to Eller Forst and the open landscape east of the city is nearby. Allotment gardens, play areas and a calm residential environment are the neighbourhood's leisure assets. Gastronomy is limited; the district is not an evening-out destination.

For Visitors and Travellers

Vennhausen suits a calm, budget-friendly accommodation base for those arriving in Düsseldorf by public transport who prefer quiet over city-centre hotels. The Eller Forst is a pleasant recreation area within easy walking distance.
