Location and Character
Reisholz lies in Stadtbezirk 6 in the south-eastern part of Düsseldorf. The neighbourhood is defined by its industrial past – chemical, manufacturing and commercial enterprises shaped the built environment over decades. Today Reisholz is a mixed residential and commercial area with still-affordable rents and a quieter but unglamorous residential character.
History and Development
Reisholz gained prominence in the 20th century through the establishment of major industrial operations, including the chemical sector (Industriepark Süd area). This industrial history remains visible and still partially shapes the streetscape. Following industrial restructuring, some areas were repurposed; mixed use is now characteristic.
Living and Quality of Life
Reisholz offers some of the most affordable rents in Düsseldorf. The offer is heterogeneous; apartment quality and location vary considerably. For those working in the industrial or commercial Reisholz area, the neighbourhood is convenient. Others come for the price, accepting a weaker urban environment in return.
Getting Around
Düsseldorf-Reisholz S-Bahn station connects the area to the Hauptbahnhof in roughly 20 minutes. Bus routes supplement. A car is useful for trips away from public transport axes.
Green Spaces and Leisure
The Rhine is in relative proximity. Green spaces and leisure infrastructure are limited. The neighbourhood is not leisure-oriented.
For Visitors and Travellers
Reisholz is not a travel destination. As an affordable base for visitors heading to Benrath or southern Düsseldorf, it is a pragmatic option.
